History

The Economic Development Foundation of Brenham (EDFB) began in 1953 when prominent community leaders felt the need to re-energize the local business environment.

At that time, the economies of many small American cities and towns were withering, as business leaders relocated their organizations to larger metropolitan areas.  To avoid a similar fate for this community, several Brenhamites established the Brenham Industrial Foundation, which was later renamed Economic Development Foundation of Brenham.

The EDFB planned and executed a policy of managed growth that attracted thriving new businesses to the area, while helping existing businesses expand and grow.

Today the EDFB continues to carry out its mission, to ensure that Brenham remains the hub of commerce for Washington and surrounding counties.
