The Brenham Economic Development Foundation is an independent non-profit group of local business leaders. They are conducting business in Brenham successfully, and they want to help you do the same.This foundation began in 1953 when community leaders felt the need to re-energize Brenham's business environment. At that time, the economies of many small American cities and towns were withering, as businesses relocated to larger metropolitan areas. To avoid a similar fate for this community, several Brenham leaders established the Brenham Industrial Foundation, later renamed Economic Development Foundation of Brenham. The Brenham Economic Development Foundation planned and executed a policy of managed growth that has attracted many thriving businesses to the area, while helping existing businesses to expand and grow. There are many success stories here.Today, the EDF works hand-in-hand with the business-friendly leadership of the City of Brenham, the Brenham Community Development Corporation, Washington County government and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative to stimulate continued progress in this market.It is through the diligent efforts of all of these development partners that success stories continue to be written and that Brenham remains a hub of commerce for Central Texas.
